Job Summary

This role involves the installation, maintenance and administration of all server hardware and software systems. As a key member of our infrastructure team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our servers and network resources.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, maintain and troubleshoot servers to ensure high availability and optimal performance.
  • Assist in troubleshooting problems with Linux servers running different versions of Linux, including Red Hat and CentOS.
  • Engage in continuous testing of new Linux versions and applications on an on-demand basis.
  • Support user management, including creating accounts for new hires and training seasoned professionals on company policies.
  • Design and implement system tools for all scripts and automation processes and monitor capacity planning.
  • Monitor everyday systems and evaluate availability of all server resources and perform activities related to Linux servers.
  • Maintain and monitor system frameworks and provide support to all systems and maintain optimal Linux knowledge.
  • Perform change control and ensure server uptime and network performance.
  • Assist with server documentation and maintain server security.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT or equivalent field of study.
  • Minimum 15 years of industry experience with Linux OS (RHEL, CentOS etc).
  • Experience installing, monitoring and upgrading Linux system software on company servers and computers.
  • Creating and setting standardized backup and recovery policies as well as security policies.
  • Applying patches and upgrades when necessary.
  • Resolving complex hardware/software platform problems in multi-layered environments.
  • Analyzing impact of software changes across other functional units.
  • Establishing, implementing and recording Unix Administrator best practices.
  • Implementing and managing systems to proactively monitor infrastructure.
  • Specialization in RHEL7, 8 and 9 systems.
  • Strong familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Ansible, Terraform and Puppet.
  • Experience with Red Hat rgmanager and/or Pacemaker clusters is required.
  • Maintaining responsibility for racking/deracking servers and network connections.
  • Making recommendations for upgrades to hardware and software based on existing operations, pending needs and available budget.
  • Familiarity with multiple information technologies that include server virtualization, cloud-based infrastructure, automation, VMWare and AWS.
  • Familiarity with high availability, disaster recovery, LDAP and load balancer concepts is an advantage.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and support Java JBoss applications is a plus.
  • Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in always-up, always-available service is preferred.
