The Permitting Director is a leadership role responsible for directing, managing, and optimizing the entire permitting process. This includes developing and implementing comprehensive strategies, leveraging experience in telecommunications markets, and leading the identification, preparation, submission, and acquisition of necessary permits from regulatory agencies.
This role requires strong leadership abilities, with a track record of managing and developing teams. The successful candidate will also have excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly. They must be proactive, solution-oriented, and highly adaptable to a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement a comprehensive permitting strategy that aligns with business goals.
- Leverage experience in telecommunications markets to navigate complex federal, state, and local permitting requirements.
- Lead the identification, preparation, submission, and acquisition of necessary permits from regulatory agencies.
- Oversee the entire permitting lifecycle, ensuring all project requirements are met on time and within budget.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulatory agencies, municipalities, utilities, and other stakeholders.
- Stay up-to-date with industry regulations, zoning codes, environmental standards, and permitting requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of permits, approvals, correspondence, and project documentation.
- Identify potential permitting challenges and develop proactive solutions.
- Enhance permitting processes, adopting industry best practices, digital tools, and automation solutions to optimize efficiency.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in permitting and project management, with at least 3-5 years of experience directly in telecommunications markets.
- Proven track record of successfully obtaining permits for complex projects in telecommunications.
- Extensive experience working with regulatory bodies such as FCC, state public utility commissions, and local municipalities.
- Proficiency in project management tools and strong understanding of telecom permitting requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Professional certifications in Project Management or related fields are a plus.
- Exceptional leadership abilities with a track record of managing and developing teams.
- Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to present complex information clearly.
- Proactive, solution-oriented, and highly adaptable to a fast-paced environment.
