Plumbing, HVAC and Firefighting Systems Design Engineer

The position involves designing, coordinating and implementing plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and firefighting systems for various projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in system design, regulatory compliance and project management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design of appropriate plumbing systems including domestic water, sanitary, storm water, hot water and gas systems etc.
  • Performing calculations as directed by senior engineer.
  • Designing and developing plumbing system layouts including pipe sizing and equipment selection.
  • Knowledge of International Plumbing design codes.
  • Proficiency in Revit and ability to work in Building Information Modelling (BIM) environment.
  • Coordinating with other disciplines such as electrical, structural, architectural, landscape etc to develop designs.
  • Experience with LEED and sustainable design projects.

HVAC System Design Responsibilities:

  • Conducting heat load calculations using tools like HAP to determine heating and cooling requirements for buildings.
  • Designing HVAC systems including water-cooled and air-cooled chiller plants, Variable Refrigerant flow systems Direct Expansion systems etc.
  • Selecting equipment based on project specifications.
  • Calculating ventilation requirements pressurization needs smoke management systems pump head calculations external static pressure and sizing ducts and pipes.
  • Selecting air distribution components like Variable Air Volume boxes grilles diffusers louvers etc.
  • Coordinating HVAC designs with other disciplines such as architecture structural engineering electrical engineering etc.
  • Applying knowledge of international codes and standards in HVAC system design.
  • Planning and designing various HVAC systems considering energy efficiency sustainability and indoor air quality.
  • Proficiency in Building Information Modelling tools like Navisworks and BIM Collaboration BIM 360.
  • Preparing design reports specifications take-off sheets and bill of quantities BOQ for HVAC systems.
  • Attending meetings with clients subcontractors suppliers and collaborating with various disciplines to ensure coordinated project delivery.
  • Active participation in project meetings providing technical insights and resolving engineering issues as they arise.

Firefighting Systems Design Responsibilities:

  • Designing fire protection systems including sprinkler systems fire pumps and hydrants according to national and international codes.
  • Performing hydraulic calculations for sprinkler systems ensuring proper coverage and compliance with safety standards.
  • Design and layout fire detection and alarm systems ensuring integration with other building services.
  • Reviewing fire protection system submittals and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Coordinating with fire protection authorities and building inspectors for approval and compliance checks.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience: 8-15 years in plumbing HVAC and firefighting.
