Senior Counselling Associate

The role of a Senior Counselling Associate is multifaceted and demanding, requiring an individual who can lead a team with poise and expertise.

  • Collaboration: A Senior Counselling Associate must be able to collaborate effectively with subject experts and editors to provide strategic guidance for postgraduate applicants.
  • Guidance: Providing personalized guidance on academics, extracurriculars, and application milestones to students and parents is a crucial aspect of this role.
  • Mentorship: Designing and overseeing structured mentorship schedules with external mentors while ensuring students receive consistent support is essential.
  • Profile Evaluation: Conducting one-on-one profile evaluations, advising on academics, extracurriculars, summer schools, internships, and overall profile building is a key responsibility.
  • Test Preparation: Coaching students through standardized test preparation (SAT/ACT, APs, IELTS/TOEFL, etc.) and guiding them on subject or curriculum equivalencies (IB, A-Levels, CBSE, ISC, etc.) is a vital part of this role.
  • Application Support: Assisting in the drafting, reviewing, and refining of application essays, personal statements, activity lists, résumés, and recommendation letters is a critical aspect of this position.
  • Mentor Sessions: Coordinating weekly student-mentor sessions via Zoom/Google Meet and maintaining an updated database of student progress is essential.
  • Progress Notes: Preparing detailed progress notes, ensuring applications stay on track with internal and university deadlines is a key responsibility.
  • Scholarships: Researching relevant undergraduate scholarships, financial aid, and merit-based opportunities, and assisting students with applications (CSS Profile, FAFSA, UCAS bursaries, etc.) is a vital part of this role.
  • Admission Offers: Helping students and families evaluate admission offers by clarifying financial implications, career outcomes, and long-term pathways is a critical aspect of this position.
  • Collaboration: Collaborating with internal faculty, mentors, and external partners to provide holistic and timely support is essential.
