Job Summary:

We seek a skilled professional to oversee DM water treatment operations in a Biomass Power Plant. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in DM water production and boiler feedwater treatment, with a strong understanding of steam-water cycle chemistry.

This is a full-time role requiring at least 5-10 years of experience in DM plant operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory/in-charge position.

The successful candidate will manage a team of water treatment technicians/operators, ensuring optimal performance and preventive maintenance of DM plant equipment. They will also maintain daily logs, chemical usage records, and test reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and supervise the entire DM water treatment process, including RO, EDI, Softener, Degasser Tower, and Mixed Bed units.
  • Ensure a consistent and reliable supply of DM water with required quality parameters for high-pressure boilers and turbines.
  • Conduct regular chemical analysis of raw water, DM water, condensate, and feedwater to maintain steam purity and avoid boiler/turbine scaling and corrosion.
  • Monitor equipment performance, troubleshoot process issues, and coordinate with maintenance and instrumentation teams for timely repairs and calibration.
  • Maintain documentation, prepare reports for internal audits, environmental monitoring, and compliance with regulatory norms.
  • Collaborate with boiler operations team to ensure feedwater and steam chemistry compliance, monitor CPU performance, and manage condensate quality.
  • Supervise a team of water treatment technicians/operators, conduct training, enforce use of PPEs and safety protocols, and lead by example in safe plant operation and emergency response.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, or Environmental Science.
  • At least 5-10 years of experience in DM plant operations in thermal or biomass power plants, with at least 2 years in a supervisory/in-charge role.
  • Expertise in DM water production and boiler feedwater treatment.
  • Familiarity with laboratory instruments: pH meter, conductivity meter, spectrophotometer, silica analyzer, etc.
  • Knowledge of boiler chemistry guidelines (e.g., ASME, OEM specifications).
  • Leadership, documentation, and root cause analysis skills.
