Software Repository Specialist Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Software Repository Specialist to ensure the integrity of our software repository through updates, upgrades, and patches.

This role is focused on managing software repositories, not systems administration.

The successful candidate will work from home full-time for 1 year and be required to sign a legal agreement with a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) and non-compete clause (NCA).

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Linux, bash scripting, C, and Python programming languages
  • Experience in compiling and creating software from source code, including knowledge of GCC and its flags
  • Familiarity with build system tools like autotools, meson, ninja, cmake, make, pkg-config, scons, etc.
  • Ability to track software dependencies
  • Skills in patching, creating, providing, and managing software patches
  • Understanding of Makefiles and ability to create them as needed
  • Maintenance of Changelogs and other documentation
  • Providing bug fixes and debugging with GDB if necessary
  • Reviewing changes and staying current with CVEs
  • Knowledge of CVS and Git version control systems
  • Able to connect with upstream developers for solutions

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with expertise in Slackware Linux are given priority; however, candidates with experience in Red Hat or Debian are also encouraged to apply.
