Senior International Tax Advisor Role

This position plays a pivotal role in upholding tax compliance and optimizing processes for globally mobile employees.

The successful candidate will be responsible for handling tax consequences of global mobility, facilitating smooth transitions across countries, and reducing tax-related risks while ensuring adherence to relevant laws.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Precise preparation, review, and filing of tax returns and related deliverables within designated deadlines for globally mobile employees.
  • Specialized advice and strategic recommendations on tax planning, withholding responsibilities, and social security contributions to internal teams.
  • Collaboration with finance and HR departments to ensure precise calculation and reporting of payroll taxes and social security contributions.
  • Specialized tax advice on assignment structures, leveraging tax treaties, and identifying tax-efficient benefits.
  • Educating and counseling employees on their tax responsibilities and the implications of international assignments.
  • Providing guidance on tax equalization and protection policies to employees, ensuring clear understanding and compliance.
  • Analyzing employee compensation and payroll data to accurately calculate tax liabilities and identify potential benefits.
  • Preparing supporting applications and documentation to optimize employees' tax positions, including comprehensive data analysis and communication with assignees.
  • Maintaining detailed tax records and documentation for accuracy and audit-readiness.
  • Staying informed on the latest developments in international tax laws and regulations.
  • Compiling and presenting tax reports to management, auditors, and tax authorities, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Commerce Graduate/Postgraduate or MBA degree.
  • A US CPA or Enrolled Agent is mandatory.
  • 6+ years of experience in Canada & US Individual Taxation.
  • Ability to sign US & Canada Individual Income tax returns for at least 12-18 months.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Technical knowledge, analytical thinking ability, and experience working closely with foreign offices and clients.
  • Capability to guide and support team members with technical stands and queries.
  • Willingness to support team functions and mentor juniors in learning basic and new tax technical topics.
