Database Engineering Role

We are seeking a skilled Database Engineer to join our team for a 1-year Business As Usual (BAU) support position.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and manage database configurations, including replication for homogeneous/heterogeneous environments, to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Automate routine tasks using shell scripting or other programming languages to improve productivity and reduce manual errors.
  • Optimize data storage and retrieval processes to minimize query latency and maximize system uptime.
  • Maintain data integrity and security by adhering to industry standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance database operations and interactions, ensuring seamless integration and efficient communication.
  • Develop disaster recovery strategies and implement cloud-based solutions to ensure high availability and minimal downtime.
  • Manage database migrations and upgrades to ensure smooth transitions and minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot performance issues, resolving data corruption, long-running queries, blockings, and deadlocks using Performance Monitor and other tools.
  • Implement account management and security protocols, as well as regular backups and recoveries, to ensure data protection and compliance.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's/Master's in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
  • 2-12 years of experience with database architecture, configuration, and performance tuning.
  • Proficiency in SQL/T-SQL, index defragmentation, re-indexing, query optimization, and client/server connectivity.
  • Strong experience in automating routine tasks, replication monitoring, and backup/recovery scheduling.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms, shell scripting, and ITIL framework.
  • Excellent problem-solving, team collaboration, and presentation skills.
