Network Architecture Specialist

Job Overview:
As a Principal Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and developing high-quality Ethernet PHY ICs. Your expertise will encompass internal blocks such as PCS, PMA, PMD, auto-negotiation, link training, FEC, and loopbacks. You will also be responsible for implementing Media Independent Interfaces (MIIs), including MII, RMII, GMII, RGMII, SGMII, XAUI, QSGMII, KR/SR/LR.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop advanced Ethernet PHY ICs.
- Implement MIIs for seamless communication.
- Develop Layer 2 Switching Concepts, including MAC address learning, VLANs (802.1Q), Spanning Tree Protocols (STP, RSTP, MSTP), Link Aggregation (LAG/LACP), and IGMP Snooping.
- Apply debugging skills for hardware and software troubleshooting.
- Develop Ethernet Switch Architectures & Features, including QoS, traffic shaping, port mirroring, and PTP/NTP.
- Contribute to Linux Kernel Development, focusing on device drivers and network stack.
- Work with scripting languages like Python and Bash for test automation and data analysis.
- Use Network Test Equipment, such as traffic generators and network sniffers (e.g., Wireshark).
- Gain experience with Microchip VSC, IStax, WebStax, Redboot, and uBoot.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in the field.
- Strong understanding of Ethernet Standards, including IEEE 802.3.
- Knowledge of Ethernet PHY ICs, MIIs, and Layer 2 Switching Concepts.
- Proficiency in debugging skills and hardware/software troubleshooting.
- Good-to-have: knowledge of Ethernet Switch Architectures & Features, Linux Kernel Development, scripting languages, and network test equipment.
