Job Summary:

This position is responsible for the preparation and presentation of culinary dishes in a high-end establishment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare all menu items requested by their supervisor.
  • Maintain advanced knife handling skills and adhere to proper kitchen safety protocols.
  • Be able to work efficiently in any section of a kitchen environment.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of culinary terms, food knowledge, and recipes.
  • Effectively complete tasks while maintaining productivity and efficiency.
  • Always follow Public Health regulations and guidelines within their assigned area.
  • Ensure personal appearance, uniform, and hygiene meet company standards and expectations.
  • Report for duty at assigned times, following supervisor's instructions and adhering to company rules and regulations.

Financial Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for cost containment through the proper use, handling, and maintenance of records, reports, supplies, and equipment.

Qualifications and Education:

  • A minimum of 4 years' experience in upscale hotels, resorts, cruise ships, or convention banqueting services, with at least 2 years as a Line Cook (shipboard experience preferred).
  • Culinary school degree required.
  • Strong management skills in multicultural and dynamic environments.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and people skills.
  • Superior customer service, teambuilding, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Knowledge of personalized service principles, including needs assessment techniques, quality service standards, alternative delivery systems, and guest satisfaction evaluation techniques.
  • Strong planning, coaching, organizing, staffing, controlling, and evaluating skills.
  • Intermediate computer software skills required.
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles such as numbering flow, debits/credits, adjusting entries, and corrections.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence, establishing a good rapport with corporate offices.
