Infrastructure Design Specialist

Job Title: Infrastructure Design Specialist

This key position is responsible for the comprehensive design, analysis, and management of complex infrastructure projects in the oil and gas industry. The role encompasses initial conceptual studies through to detailed engineering and ongoing operational support for both new and existing facilities.

Key Responsibilities
Design and Engineering
- Perform Advanced Structural Analysis: Develop and perform advanced structural analysis and design for complex structures, including reinforced concrete and steel components, pipe racks, platforms, foundations, and buildings.
- Specialized Foundations: Design specialized foundations, such as dynamic foundations for large rotating equipment and pile foundations for complex structures.
- Comprehensive Analysis: Conduct comprehensive in-place, fatigue, seismic, and blast analysis for onshore and offshore structures.
- Detailed Engineering Deliverables: Create detailed engineering deliverables, including technical specifications, calculation reports, and engineering drawings (GAs, details, layouts).
- Advanced Software: Utilize advanced engineering software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, SACS, ABAQUS, Navisworks) for structural analysis, simulation, and 3D modeling.
Project Management and Coordination
- Project Lead: Oversee the civil and structural aspects of projects from the conceptual stage through to execution.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of designs.
- Clash Detection: Perform clash detection and resolution using 3D modeling tools to identify and mitigate conflicts with other disciplines.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support to the procurement process by reviewing vendor bids and material requisitions.
- Project Schedules: Manage project schedules, budgets, and change requests related to the infrastructure scope of work.
Infrastructure Integrity and Maintenance
- Structural Integrity: Conduct structural integrity assessments of existing infrastructure, performing fitness-for-service evaluations.
- Reliability Programs: Develop and implement reliability programs to monitor the health of assets.
- Repair Recommendations: Provide technical support and repair recommendations for in-service infrastructure based on inspection reports and risk assessments.
- Decommissioning: Support decommissioning projects by designing removal and demolition procedures.
Field and Construction Support
- Site Visits: Perform site visits and inspections to ensure construction activities comply with design specifications.
- On-Site Technical Guidance: Provide on-site technical guidance, address construction queries, and evaluate change orders.
- Installation Aids: Develop installation aids and construction methodology, especially for offshore components.
- Turnaround Engineering: Support turnaround engineering with construction and temporary support arrangements and necessary calculations in both Upstream and Refinery facilities
Documentation and Quality Assurance
- Design Standards: Ensure all designs and deliverables comply with strict international and industry-specific standards.
- Project Documentation: Maintain accurate and organized project documentation, including design changes and revision controls.
- Quality Control: Oversee quality control of contractor and vendor work throughout the project.
Work Experience and Qualifications

Required skills and qualifications:

- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Experience: 8-12 years of relevant experience in a high-risk industry, preferably in oil and gas, petrochemicals, or energy.
- Project Experience: Proven experience in both greenfield and brownfield projects, covering all project phases from conceptual studies to commissioning.
- Technical Expertise: Analysis and design of complex structures, dynamic analysis of equipment foundations, fatigue, seismic, and blast-resistant design; codes and standards knowledge; software proficiency in STAAD.Pro, SACS, ABAQUS, or ANSYS; modeling tools experience in Tekla, Navisworks, or E3D.
