Lead Storage System Administrator

We seek a seasoned professional to oversee the design, deployment, and maintenance of our storage infrastructure. Key responsibilities include ensuring seamless operations, implementing capacity planning strategies, automating storage administration tasks, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

  • Storage Infrastructure Management: Design, configure, and maintain Mainframe storage subsystems for optimal performance, reliability, and compatibility.
  • Capacity Planning: Develop and execute strategic capacity plans to meet current and future storage requirements, maximizing resource utilization and minimizing waste.
  • Automation and Optimization: Implement automation tools and workflows to streamline storage administration tasks, reducing manual intervention and improving operational efficiency.
  • Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor storage performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to ensure data placement is optimized for maximum availability and performance.
  • Disaster Recovery: Design and implement robust disaster recovery and data replication solutions to safeguard against data loss or corruption.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Foster strong relationships with system administrators, database administrators, and application teams to ensure effective communication, coordination, and support for data backup, recovery, and migration projects.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, and/or equivalent military experience.
  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in Mainframe storage subsystems, architecture, and management.
  • Skills: Experience with storage management software and utilities, including DFSMS, DFSMSdss, and DFSMSrmm; knowledge of storage virtualization technologies and concepts, such as DASD, VTS, and SAN/NAS storage provisioning; and expertise in storage networking protocols and technologies, such as FICON, Fibre Channel, and SCSI.
