About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to become a key member of our Scientist team at a hospital laboratory in NHS Scotland. As a Trainee or Specialist Biomedical Scientist, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our blood sciences service.


Key Responsibilities
  • To work as a self-motivated Trainee or Specialist Biomedical Scientist holding HCPC registration or willing to work towards it.
  • To hold or be willing to work towards a Specialist Portfolio or equivalent experience in one of the blood sciences.
  • To have an IBMS accredited Biomedical Science degree and excellent organisational skills.
  • To be driven for independent learning and have a positive attitude to change.

What We Offer
  • A full-time post of 37 hours per week, over 7 days, plus non-residential on-call supporting the POCT testing model.
  • The opportunity to gain experience through each discipline moving towards multi-disciplinary working.
  • A working knowledge of the theory and practice of a UKAS accredited blood sciences laboratory (ISO 15189).
  • The chance to rotate through all areas of the laboratory, often without direct supervision.

Requirements
  • Holds or willing to work towards HCPC registration.
  • Holds or willing to work towards a Specialist Portfolio or equivalent experience in one of the blood sciences.
  • An IBMS accredited Biomedical Science degree is essential.
  • Excellent organisational skills, driven for independent learning and a positive attitude to change.
