Investment Fund Analyst Position Overview

We seek a meticulous and proactive investment fund analyst to ensure accurate reporting and operational efficiency for hedge fund portfolios.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for guaranteeing precise calculations, reconciliations, and settlements across various tasks including NAV, P&L, and cash reconciliation.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • NAV Calculations: Prepare and review daily, weekly, and monthly calculations for hedge fund portfolios to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • P&L Reconciliation: Perform reconciliation between fund administrator reports, internal records, and prime broker statements to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
  • Cash Reconciliation: Carry out reconciliation across custodians, banks, and internal systems to guarantee accurate cash positioning and settlement.
  • Discrepancy Investigation: Investigate and resolve discrepancies in positions, pricing, fees, and expenses to maintain portfolio integrity.
  • Support Processes: Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and accruals to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Reporting and Statements: Support performance reporting and investor statements to provide timely and accurate information.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with fund administrators, prime brokers, and custodians to ensure accurate trade settlement and reporting.
  • Data Validation: Collaborate with portfolio managers and risk teams to validate portfolio data and performance metrics.
  • Process Improvement: Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (Master's or professional certification like CFA/CPA is an asset).
  • Experience: 2–5 years of experience in fund accounting or hedge fund operations, preferably with exposure to NAV calculation and reconciliation processes.
  • Financial Instrument Knowledge: Strong understanding of financial instruments (equities, derivatives, fixed income, FX, etc.).
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in MS Excel; knowledge of fund accounting software (e.g., Advent Geneva, Investran, or similar) is an advantage.
  • Skill Set: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
