Buying Manager Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned buying manager to lead our sports accessories buying and merchandising team.

This role involves overseeing the entire buying process, from product sourcing to developing innovative accessories for our sports and activewear collections.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the sports industry, a strong understanding of domestic and international suppliers, and excellent analytical skills.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end buying process for sports accessories
  • Develop and implement effective merchandising strategies
  • Identify emerging trends and capitalize on market opportunities
  • Negotiate with vendors and maintain strong supplier relationships
  • Analyze market data and sales performance to inform decisions
  • Collaborate with design teams on product development
  • Manage inventory levels and forecast demand
  • Ensure product quality and regulatory compliance
  • Conduct competitor analysis and market research
  • Lead and mentor the buying and merchandising team

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • NIFT graduate or postgraduate degree
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in sports/activewear industry
  • Proven track record in accessories buying and merchandising
  • Strong understanding of domestic and import supplier base
  • Keen eye for trends and excellent analytical skills
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building abilities
  • Proficiency in MS Office and relevant buying/planning software
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
