Job Title: HPC Administrator

Job Summary:

The HPC System Administrator is responsible for the administration of HPC and VDI clusters, user account management, creation and maintenance of AMI images, installation and configuration of Linux operating systems, and support of HPC components and native services.

Responsibilities:

• Administration of HPC and VDI clusters involves managing the infrastructure to ensure high-performance computing capabilities.
• User Account Management plays a crucial role in HPC onboarding and offboarding, ensuring that users have the necessary access rights and permissions.
• AMI Image Management encompasses creating and maintaining Amazon Machine Images (AMIs) in designated accounts to cater to various use cases.
• Linux Operating System Installation and Configuration includes setting up and customizing Linux distributions on HPC clusters to meet specific requirements.
• Support for HPC Components and Native Services entails troubleshooting and resolving issues with platform-native tools and services, as well as collaborating with respective providers to address challenges.
• AWS Managed Active Directory support and Management involve overseeing the directory service to ensure secure authentication and authorization.
• Continuous Upgrades to the HPC Platform and related Components include implementing OS, Java, and Python updates, as well as enhancing EFPortal and other critical services.
• Compliance Controls Implementation and Maintenance involve enforcing regulatory requirements, conducting audits, and implementing corrective actions to maintain adherence to industry standards.
• Collaboration with cross-functional teams, such as v-drive team members, facilitates smooth testing, migration, and installation of engineering applications.
• Job Scheduler Management involves configuring and optimizing Slurm or LSF to efficiently allocate resources and optimize workflow.
• Node Provisioning Tools Utilization, like Werewolf, enables efficient resource allocation and streamlined provisioning processes.
• Troubleshooting System Issues and Providing Technical Support ensures prompt resolution of system-related problems and provides assistance to end-users.
• Monitoring System Performance and Ensuring Optimal Operation involves closely monitoring cluster performance and taking proactive measures to prevent potential issues.
• Collaboration with IT Professionals to Integrate New Technologies into Existing Infrastructure fosters innovation and drives technological advancements.
• Desirable Experience in HPC System Administration, preferably in Redhat/CentOS Linux environments, demonstrates expertise in managing complex computing systems.
• Proficiency in AWS Cloud Formation Templates to Build Infrastructure for HPC and Storage Solutions, such as Amazon FSx for Netapp and Lustre, showcases ability to design scalable architectures.

Qualifications and Skills:

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, including proficiency in Linux operating systems, experience with job schedulers like Slurm or LSF, and knowledge of node provisioning tools like Werewolf. Familiarity with cloud-based solutions, such as AWS Cloud Formation Templates, is also highly desirable. Additionally, excellent communication and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role.
