Role of a Digital Fault Tolerant Engineer

The job description for the position of DFT Engineer is to design and implement digital fault tolerance in complex electronic systems.

  • Collaborate with ASIC design teams to ensure that digital fault tolerance design rules are met.
  • Develop high-quality manufacturing ATPG test patterns for stuck-at (SAF) and transition fault (TDF) models through the use of on-chip test compression techniques.
  • Perform MBIST verification, including repair, and test pattern generation using Mentor tools.
  • Conduct ATPG (SAF, TDF) and MBIST verification using unit delay and min/max timing corner simulations.
  • Work with Product/Test engineering teams to deliver manufacturing test patterns for Automatic Test Equipment (ATE).
  • Be responsible for supporting post-silicon debug efforts and issue resolution.
  • Generate Diagnostic Tools for ATPG, MBIST, and bring-up on ATE.
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain scripts as necessary.

Essential Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering
  • Minimum of 4 to 12 years' experience in ASIC/DFT - simulation and Silicon validation.
  • Experience working on at least one Full chip DFT project
  • Detailed knowledge of DFT concepts, pattern simulation, Silicon debug, and yield enhancement.
  • Expertise in ATPG - coverage analysis.
  • Knowledge of Memory verification, repair, and failure root-cause analysis.
  • Experience with ATPG - TestKompress, MBIST - MentorETVerify, Simulation - VCS (preferred), ModelSim.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Perl, shell, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in an international team.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new tools and methodologies.
  • Multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
