Senior Software Test Engineer Position

A software test engineer works on testing and verifying the quality of software products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a team to test a range of applications, from high-stakes engineering software solutions to control and monitor high-end software control systems.
• Execute project plans and deliver commitments within a professional, high-paced engineering environment.
• Interface with customers to understand requirements, set priorities, and communicate direction and progress.
• Drive improvements in software quality practices.
• Oversee the development of new test frameworks and applications to ensure manual and automated test solutions are implemented.
• Contribute to test process, tools, and methodologies for both manual and automated test execution.
• Ensure testability and coverage in test case design.
• Present test plans to leads and product owners for approval prior to execution.
• Work closely with scrum teams to drive, implement, and maintain tests in an agile environment.
• Assess the impact of design changes to determine the optimal level of testing.
• Develop methods and perform load and performance testing.
• Integrate testing with continuous-integration processes.
• Apply a troubleshooting mindset to break down complex systems or processes systematically and effectively.
• Ensure proper analysis and documentation of test results.
• Participate in team retrospectives to recommend and implement improvements to test strategy and planning.
• Prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
• Ensure all testing deliverables meet high standards of quality and compliance.
• Experience in using bug management tools like JIRA is beneficial.
• Perform thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved.
• Engage in ongoing education and training to stay current on best practices, learn new test and automation techniques, and assist other team members.

Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have:

• At least 5 years of experience working directly within engineering teams developing software for full systems.
• 5+ years of proven work experience in software testing/quality assurance with web-based applications, mobile applications, and client-server applications.
• Familiarity with Agile Scrum methodology.
• Hands-on experience in manual API testing.
• Knowledge of automation testing using Selenium or similar frameworks.
• Solid understanding of SQL and scripting concepts.
• Excellent communication (written, verbal, and presentation) skills and advanced problem-solving orientation and decision-making skills.
• Knowledge of Design Patterns & Data Structures.
• Working knowledge of various types of testing, from functional testing to performance and mobile/browser compatibility.
• A passion for technology with the ability to learn quickly.
• Understanding of the web/desktop application development cycle and programming techniques and tools.
• Strong project and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.
• Capacity to participate in working sessions resulting in clear technical requirements and technical designs while working with technical and non-technical team members.
• Ability to write Java code for the purposes of testing solution code.
