Lead Quality Manager - Knitwear Division

A reputable manufacturing organization is seeking a seasoned quality leader to spearhead the quality function in their captive factory, specializing in T-shirts and other knitwear products. The ideal candidate will be responsible for establishing and maintaining quality standards across all production stages, ensuring compliance with industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality Assurance & Control

  • Develop and implement robust quality control systems for fabric, trims, and garment production.

  • Ensure that all production processes adhere to industry and customer quality standards.

  • Conduct regular quality audits at various stages—cutting, stitching, finishing, and packing.

  • Factory Compliance & Certifications

  • Ensure factory compliance with international quality standards such as AQL, ISO, and buyer-specific requirements.

  • Work closely with external auditors and certification bodies to maintain factory approvals.

  • Train and educate factory staff on quality control protocols and compliance measures.

  • Defect Prevention & Process Improvement

  • Identify recurring quality issues and implement corrective and preventive action plans.

  • Introduce process improvements to minimize rework, rejections, and wastage.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or other best practices.

  • Buyer & Vendor Coordination

  • Collaborate with buyers, merchandisers, and vendors to align on quality expectations.

  • Handle buyer inspections and third-party audits with confidence.

  • Ensure timely approvals for pre-production samples, lab tests, and quality documentation.

  • Team Leadership & Training

  • Build and lead a strong quality control team across all production stages.

  • Conduct training sessions for factory workers and supervisors to enhance quality awareness.

  • Foster a culture of quality consciousness across all departments.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in quality control/assurance, preferably in knits and T-shirts.

  • Industry Exposure: Must have experience working in a large manufacturing setup or captive factory.

  • Skills:

  • Expertise in AQL standards, inline & final inspections, and root cause analysis.

  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.

  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.

  • Familiarity with compliance audits and certification requirements.

  • Bachelor's degree in Textile Technology, Apparel Production, or a related field.
