Job Overview

The Digital and Technology team at General Mills stands as the largest and foremost unit, dedicated to exploring the latest trends and innovations in technology while leading the adoption of cutting-edge technologies across the organization. Collaborating closely with global business teams, the focus is on understanding business models and identifying opportunities to leverage technology for increased efficiency and disruption.

Key Accountabilities
  1. As a PMO manager, be the hub of PM practices – ensure set practices/SOPs/rhythms are being followed, contribute to the evolution of standards based best practices across traditional and agile project management, be able to manage/guide PMs and agile roles like Scrum masters responsible for mission critical projects.
  2. Lead and manage a team of PMs focused on project management and agile delivery methodology - manage team progress, timelines, budget, and prioritization of highest-value deliverables.
  3. Proven ability and experience in successfully managing multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously with a focus on the "big-picture" - anticipate and isolate patterns, identify gaps and catalyse resolutions employing prioritization for maximum outcome.
  4. Actively engage with a distributed, global project/portfolio management community to continuously evolve capabilities, re-imagine ways of working and deliver the overall portfolio in line with stated business outcomes.
  5. Be accountable for line management, career path and individual development plans of the team to drive a culture of continuous transformation.
  6. Serve as an Escalation point for PMs alongside key individual deliverables – develop and manage a deep understanding of the portfolio of projects being managed by PMs, ensure enduring stakeholder relationships within the larger organization to drive value.
  7. Actively involved in shaping and forecasting PM resourcing needs, succession planning, managing resource allocations judiciously across the portfolio, recruitment/onboarding/upskilling of new team members in partnership with our global community.
  8. Deep understanding of financial budget management.
  9. Manage and evolve operating rhythms, ensure governance and effective capabilities of the team for Project Management expertise.
  10. Liaison closely with Finance, HR, business and other functions to ensure transparency and smooth functioning of the org.
  11. Drive to independently take on and ambitious initiatives and quickly evolve workable paths with increasing clarity.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. 15+ years overall experience with 8+ years of Project Management experience across traditional and agile based projects.
  2. Proven team management experience with an organization first mindset
  3. Expert in project and process management having contributed to evolution and implementation of best practices across both agile and traditional project management.
  4. Provides thought leadership, strategic insights, and recommended solutions to deliver both short and long term business goals.
  5. Excellent communication skills – ability to communicate with the team and various stakeholders (oral & written)
  6. Build a collaborative culture that thrives on information sharing, opportunities and enablement of the team.
  7. Demonstrated drive to successfully deliver high impact, high value project/product outcomes within project constraints on a variety of projects including Technology implementations, Strategic initiatives, Portfolio Shaping (M&A) and Transition Services.
  8. Demonstrated ability to independently take on ambitious initiatives to drive clarity and detailed plans to advance teams toward outcomes. History of teamwork and willingness to roll up one's sleeves to get the job done.
  9. Ability to self-manage multiple, competing priorities and deliverables and provide coaching/mentorship to team members.
  10. Meticulous attention to detail, coupled with a proven ability to see the "big picture".
  11. Strong organizational skills and financial/budget management skills
  12. Knowledge and proficiency with MS Office, Project Management and Project Lifecycle tools (like ADO, JIRA and their workflows)
  13. Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or related field.
  14. Willingness to work flexible/extended hours in collaboration with multiple timezones.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Experience of managing techno-functional outcomes – ability to interface between Digital & Technology teams and Business teams
  2. Business analysis skills
  3. Working knowledge on DevOps, Agile development processes, exploration and POCs
  4. Works well collaboratively across functional team boundaries
  5. Ability to work in a fast-paced, complex and transforming environment.
  6. Candidate should be flexible, reliable, can take initiative, can deal with responsibility, and have a "can do" mentality.
