Job Description


Software Test Engineer is responsible for ensuring that electronic devices and systems comply with EMC/EMI standards and regulations. This includes analyzing schematics and circuit board layouts, formulating system and circuit board level EMC protection, and conducting design reviews to ensure compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with design engineers, project managers, and regulatory agencies to implement EMC/EMI requirements.
  • Review electronic component datasheets and application notes for the development of EMC protection schemes.
  • Analyze schematics and circuit board layouts for adherence to EMC design practices and guidelines.
  • Formulate system and circuit board level EMC protection (filtering, shielding, etc).
  • Involve in design calculations and conduct design reviews to ensure that electronic devices and systems are designed for EMI and EMC compliance.
  • Interpret EMC standards and regulations to develop test plans and procedures for compliance testing.
  • Conduct EMC testing (Pre-Dv, DV, and PV) and analysis on electronic products and systems to assess electromagnetic emissions and susceptibility.
  • Analyze test results, identify EMC issues, and recommend design modifications and mitigation strategies to achieve compliance.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to cross-functional teams on EMC design principles, best practices, and troubleshooting techniques.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in performance of EMI/EMC analyses and testing.
  • Must be familiar with Automotive EMC/EMI test standards, requirements, test methods, and setup/performance of testing.
  • Experience in digital and analog circuit design and schematic capture.
  • Understanding of PCB layout process and tools.
  • Proficiency with simulations through functional and logical models and system analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment (network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, oscillators, signal generators, and EMC chambers).
  • Hands-on knowledge of RF and EMC standards (FCC, CISPR-25, ECE-R10, AIS-004, IEC, EN).
  • Manage and ensure traceability between Product SW requirements and SW validation tests and test scripts (100% coverage required).
  • Proficiency in EMC documentation like test plans, procedures, reports, and certificates.
  • Ability to work independently or in teams and communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
