Database Architect Role Summary

Job Description:

A key member of our team will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing and maintaining scalable databases to meet business needs. As a seasoned database expert, you will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation and maintenance of databases to ensure they meet performance, availability, security and scalability requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Migrate existing databases to newer versions ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Design, configure and manage high-availability solutions (HA/DR) in production environments.
  • Plan and implement cloud migrations with preferred AWS services.
  • Develop and maintain database performance tuning strategies (queries, indexes, statistics, execution plans).
  • Perform regular backups, restores and disaster recovery testing.
  • Collaborate with application teams to ensure database reliability and efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including runbooks and standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards, policies and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience as a database architect in enterprise environments.
  • Proven expertise in migrating databases to newer versions in production environments.
  • Strong knowledge of high-availability solutions and other HA/DR technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS database migration (DMS, RDS, EC2 or hybrid solutions).
  • Proficiency in database design, development, performance tuning and query optimization.
  • Solid understanding of backup/recovery strategies and database security.
  • Familiarity with PowerShell or automation tools for database administration is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication and documentation skills.
