Chapter Area Technical Lead

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced technical leader to drive our chapter area's technical excellence and innovation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership: Define the software technical roadmap, ensure alignment with reference architecture, enterprise data standards, and modernisation priorities.
  • Squad Enablement: Pave the way for squads to deliver autonomously at pace by removing technology blockers, decoupling applications, and streamlining processes.
  • Technical Solution Design: Plan, define, and high-level design solutions; assist Squads to identify the right technologies and ensure sound architectural decisions.
  • Crew Capability Management: Work with Chapter leads on defining and forecasting Crew tech capability requirements. Support implementation of practices, tooling, and training provided in the Crew.
  • Operational Excellence: Drive operational excellence and support teams in charge of mission-critical production services with diverse stakeholders and complex dependencies.
  • Technical Debt Elimination: Drive good design, refactoring, and technical debt elimination. Ensure technical debt and associated impacts are visible to Crew and work with POs to reduce it over time.
  • Delivery Management: Ensure delivery within funding allocation, active management, and mitigation of delivery and delivered risk.
  • People Leadership: Accountable for the development, performance management, and career progression of a number of Technology roles.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Technical Expertise: Broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team.
  • Cloud Computing: Cloud - AWS large scale data warehouse implementation experience.
  • Software Development: Extensive experience in designing and implementing scalable, maintainable, and reliable software solutions.
  • AI/ML Applications: Working knowledge of AI/ML and Gen AI applications and how they can enhance software engineering processes to improve productivity.
  • Agentic AI Systems: Experience building RAGs using LlamaIndex, LangChain, or similar frameworks.
  • Programming Languages: Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, TypeScript or C#) and experience developing microservices architecture on cloud platforms (AWS & Azure).
  • Research and Development: Keen interest in researching new AI tooling and daily user of AI coding assistants such as Cursor, Continue, GitHub CoPilot, Aider, Cline, etc.
  • Desirable Skills: Knowledge of or experience in Anthropic Claude, Llama, LiteLLM, Cursor, windsurf / Codeium, VO Vercel, Continue, Aider, Cline, Langchain, Langgraph, Hugging Face.
Additional Requirements
  • Agile Methodologies: Proficiency in agile development methodologies and iterative experimentation from ideation to prototype to pilot to product.
  • Experience: 15+ years.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong technical leadership skills and ability to collaborate with stakeholders to solve business-critical problems.
