Category Management Specialist

The Category Management Specialist will be responsible for overseeing the entire product lifecycle from sourcing new vendors to managing working relationships with existing ones. This role requires a strong analytical mind to identify products, offers and negotiate the best rates.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and executing category strategies to drive profitable growth.
  • Managing a team of officers/promoters and ensuring they have the necessary skills to succeed in their roles.
  • Preparing and presenting reports to stakeholders on key performance indicators.
  • Traveling regularly to visit vendors and marketplaces.

Requirements for this role include:

  • A graduate/postgraduate degree in a relevant field such as business administration or marketing.
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in FMCG sales or general merchandising product base industry with good understanding of categories.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, planning, delegation, co-ordination, follow up and team handling skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Proficiency in Excel is highly desirable as well as the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
