Financial Controller.

Job Summary

The ideal candidate will oversee the financial function for a new hotel, providing leadership and strategic direction. They will be responsible for heading the finance team, developing and implementing financial strategies that drive business growth and profitability.

As a key member of the senior management team, this position champions, develops and implements property-wide strategies that deliver excellent customer service and meet or exceed brand expectations.

Responsibilities include analyzing financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges, developing forecasts and budgets, managing financial planning, analysis, budgeting, and forecasting processes, as well as controlling costs, leading by example, communicating strategically and leading by influence.

  • Develops means to improve profit through cost control, expense reduction, and revenue growth.
  • Creates annual budget plans and monitors actual sales against projected sales.
  • Compiles information, analyzes and identifies opportunities for improvement.
  • Implements systems of appropriate controls to manage business risks.
  • Ensures a strong accounting and operational control environment to safeguard assets, improve operations and profitability.
Leadership and Team Management

This position utilizes interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others; advocates sound financial/business decision making; demonstrates honesty/integrity; leads by example.

Leads by assigning clear accountability backed by authority, conducts regular performance appraisals, oversees internal, external and regulatory audit processes, and provides excellent leadership by setting priorities and championing key initiatives.

  • Communicates the strategic goals, focus and owner priorities to subordinates in a clear and concise manner.
  • Oversees subordinate teams' work to ensure alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Engages in constructive dialogue to resolve issues and promotes a positive work environment.

Education requirements: CA/MBA/Masters degree with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Experience required: 10+ years experience in accounting preferably within the hospitality industry.
