Senior Tax Consultant

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Consultant to join our Indirect Tax practice in a leadership role. This opportunity is ideal for someone who blends deep technical knowledge with practical experience in GST and related areas of indirect taxation.

The role demands both strategic thinking and execution capability—leading client engagements, mentoring teams and maintaining high standards in delivery and client service.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Lead end-to-end GST and indirect tax advisory assignments, including structuring, impact analysis, and compliance reviews.
  • Provide technical analysis on complex IDT issues, draft client memos and prepare regulatory submissions.
  • Drive litigation strategy, including preparing replies, appeals and representing clients before tax authorities.
  • Supervise and mentor teams on technical execution, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships; serve as a trusted advisor and escalation point.
  • Actively contribute to practice development through capability-building, thought leadership, and client engagement initiatives.
  • Stay updated on legal and regulatory changes, judicial trends, and sector-specific IDT developments.

Requirements

  • Chartered Accountant with 8–12 years of relevant experience in indirect taxation.
  • Strong command over GST laws, including place of supply, ITC rules, and procedural aspects. Exposure to Customs or Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) is a plus.
  • Ability to translate legal nuances into practical, business-friendly solutions.
  • Excellent drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple stakeholders across clients, teams, and regulators.
  • Experience in consulting firms, boutique tax practices, or in-house tax teams preferred.
