Senior Biotechnology Specialist

We are on the verge of a major breakthrough, and we're looking for a senior scientist to join our R&D team.
Our team is building the next frontier in recombinant protein production using our novel LoopBac platform — an optimized system that uses insects as miniature bio-factories instead of conventional cell culture methods. This game-changing technology enables complex protein production at a fraction of the cost and time.
Key Responsibilities
- You will be the go-to expert, collaborating with cross-functional teams to enable faster, more accurate, and cost-effective recombinant protein production:
- Provide DNA, gene, or protein sequence insights for any new protein of choice; coordinate with contractual gene synthesis partners for gene sequence validation and codon optimisation.
- Support comparative genomics and virus–host interaction studies to enhance the platform.
- Advise on recombinant protein–host protein interactions, protein tagging, and purification strategies.
- Recommend appropriate kits, antibodies, and assays through protein–protein interaction studies.

RequirementsSkill Set
- PhD/Master's in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field.
- 5 years of hands-on experience in running bioinformatics pipelines for Protein/DNA analysis.
- Expertise in genetics, genomics, proteomics, and protein modelling databases.
- Preferred coding background in Python, R, Perl (or similar), with ability to adapt and work with outsourced software developers.
- Experience in protein sequence analysis, codon optimisation, and comparative genomics.
- Familiarity with AI tools in bioinformatics (preferred but not mandatory).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently while coordinating with multiple teams.
- Sequence Analysis & Databases: NCBI, UniProt, Ensembl, KEGG, PDB
- Genomics & Alignment: BLAST, Clustal Omega, MUSCLE, MAFFT
- Protein Modelling: AlphaFold, Swiss-Model, PyMOL, Chimera
- Data Analysis: Bioconductor, Galaxy, Geneious
- Ai/ml & Coding: TensorFlow/PyTorch (for bioinformatics), Python/R, Jupyter Notebooks
- Workflow Tools: Nextflow, Snakemake, or similar
