Job Title: Unix Support Engineer

A key role has opened up for a seasoned Unix Systems Specialist. This professional will be responsible for delivering high-level technical support for Unix environments in a highly available banking ecosystem.

The ideal candidate should possess at least 6 years of experience in Unix administration, with expertise in AIX (6.1/7.1/7.2/7.3) and Power 8/9/10. They should also be familiar with HMC (v10) and VIOS (3.1.1.25/ 3.1.4.31/ 4.1.0.21).

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide advanced technical support for Unix systems within a high-availability banking environment.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements such as PCI DSS, SWIFT, and local banking regulations.
  • Operate under ITIL processes (Incident/Change/Problem/Knowledge).
  • Maintain optimal system performance, security, and availability; participate in disaster recovery drills.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues and manage approved platform changes.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for recurring incidents and implement permanent solutions.
  • Optimize configurations and schedule jobs to enhance system performance and reliability.
  • Coordinate with vendors (TAC cases, firmware/patch planning) and validate post-change system health.
  • Demonstrate strong documentation, runbook hygiene, and clear communication with stakeholders.
  • Embody an ownership mindset with readiness for 24x7 support and on-call rotations.
