Job Description:

The successful Technical Lead will drive the team from a technical perspective and provide IT support related to application environments and interfaces, both on-prem and cloud.

This includes diagnosis, resolution, root cause analysis of issues, identifying problem workarounds, ensuring service requests are actioned according to service levels and performance targets.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Strategic Focus
    • Operational Support and Continuous Improvement of Infrastructure Estate and Processes for Development and Test Environments (System, Load, Performance, UAT) up to and including Production.
    • Automation, process efficiency, and tooling utilization to reduce cycle times, improve reliability, audit, and traceability for all system deployments across multiple applications.
    • Consistently applied Process, best practice, and system build standards are constantly improved upon.
    • Ensuring the Development Team has the right environment to maximize efficacy and obstacles are removed, with automation introduced where appropriate.
  • Operational Management
    • Production is managed, supported, and controlled with the appropriate level of governance and agility.
    • Production environments are protected by good practice/process/design/and 'fit for purpose' environments supporting all project and change activity left of Pre-Prod.
    • Project and change releases are packaged to the right quality, repeatable between environments without change or modification, deployed to target environments – ultimately to Production without detriment or issue in agreed timescales.
    • Software and application design is challenged and contributed to ensure it is aligned to the constraints of the Project/Change.
    • Weak points in Process, Technology, and Service are addressed through a culture of continual improvement;
    • Software and processes are correctly documented to prevent single points of knowledge becoming an issue and skills are distributed across the team and department.
    • Deliverables/Artefacts, as part of any Change/Project, are progressed providing appropriate status reporting and updates as requested by the Line/Project/Change Lead.
  • People Leadership
    • Skilled capable resources are provided to Project/Change Leads suited to the delivery. Gaps in skills or resource are managed to reduce risk to Change, Projects, or the Business.
    • A team of Test Environment Engineers & Middleware specialists are managed and supported, with environment management carried out on non-prod environments.
    • Technical skills required for test environment management function are developed for self and the team.
    • EDT support is provided along with the Global team as part of the test environment management team.
  • Governance & Risk
    • SLAs met percentage and number (Environment Availability, Responsiveness to Requests etc);
    • Releases/Deployments to Production without issue percentage.
    • Post deployment Incident levels achieving set targets.
    • Server patch levels adhere to policy.
    • Percentage of formal processes documented.
