Job Description

The Head of Payables oversees the accounts payable function, ensuring timely and accurate processing of payments, vendor invoices, and expense reports.

Key responsibilities include developing and implementing payables policies and procedures for efficiency, compliance, and control. The Head of Payables also leads the accounts payable team, including hiring, training, goal setting, and ongoing development.

  • Manage vendor relationships and resolve payment disputes or queries.
  • Review, validate, and approve invoices; ensure adherence to company policies, contractual terms, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records and reconciliations; oversee month-end and year-end closing processes for payables.

Leadership and Strategic Planning

  • Develop, implement, and monitor strategic plans for the payables function to optimize efficiency, quality, and compliance.
  • Lead and oversee cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives.

Financial Analysis and Reporting

  • Prepare, analyze, and report on payables metrics: aging, cash flow, forecasts, and performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement in payables efficiency, quality, and compliance.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CA/MBA preferred.
  • 7+ years of accounts payable experience with at least 3 years in a managerial/supervisory role.
  • Strong expertise in payables processes, team leadership, and compliance management.
  • Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems and advanced MS Excel.
