About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Renewable Energy Engineer to join our team at Hitachi Energy.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing solar plant systems, including evaluation of manufacturers' offers and tender estimation.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer to utilize their expertise in electrical engineering, specifically in the design and development of renewable energy solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and select standard techniques and procedures to perform engineering assignments related to solar plant design.
  • Provide technical support for testing, installation, and commissioning activities.
  • Prepare projects documentation within one's scope of deliverables, including tender estimations and manufacturer evaluations.
  • Assist in preparing proposal/presentation of engineering projects/programs, including provision of bills of materials and estimated engineering hours.
  • Support Contract Managers in issuing claims related to changes in scope of work, cost impact, time impact, risk quantifications, etc.
  • Deliver quality solutions as per customer requirements and within budget and contract specifications.
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards and mitigation of potential risks during engineering activities.
  • Create work plans and cost estimates for own area of responsibility, ensuring timely and quality delivery.
  • Improve effectiveness of work plans through collaboration with other functions.
  • Complete risk and opportunity assessments and ensure implementation of resulting actions in one's area of responsibility.
  • Report any contract/quality/program/cost issues to management along with recommendations for resolution.
  • Interact with customers on technical issues, officials, contractors, and other staff within the scope of deliverables.
  • Collaborate with the Supply Chain function to ensure that technical requirements for equipment or services are communicated and agreed to with potential suppliers.
  • Provide technical evaluation of supplier proposals and accept supplied equipment or services as fit for purpose.
  • Utilize standard processes and tools applicable to one's area of responsibility.
  • Ensure compliance with required safety regulations and contractual requirements for engineering activities.
  • Report inefficiencies in processes and tools, suggesting improvements and ideas.
  • Assign tasks to and coordinate work with entry-level engineers, technicians, and administrative staff.
  • Livest Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity, taking responsibility for one's own actions while caring for colleagues and the business.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor/Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with relevant work experience of at least 8 years.
  • Thorough knowledge in engineering of solar plants, which is essential for this position.
  • Tender estimation of renewable solar plants based on tender documents, including technical resolution of clarifications with customers for techno-economic solutions.
  • Evaluation of manufacturers' offers of equipment in line with contract/tender specifications.
  • Optimization proposal for array yard layout fulfilling contractual requirements.
  • Expertise in AC & DC cable sizing, routing layout with voltage drop & power loss calculation to match contract-agreed requirements.
  • Proficiency in string formation drawings, earthing, and lightning protection layout for array yards.
  • Hands-on experience on ICR layout & overall cable routing layout for plants.
  • Selection of bus bar configuration & scheme.
  • Preparation of main SLD (Single Line Diagram) including selection of primary equipment specifications.
  • Preparation of Protection SLD (Single Line Diagram) which includes selection of protection schemes for lines, transformers, reactors, bus bars, etc.
  • Variety of sizing calculations to prove sufficiency for adopted substation design: instrument transformer sizing, short circuit force calculation, sag-tension calculation, DSLP calculation, earthing calculation, HT & LT cable sizing calculation, illumination design, battery, and charger sizing, relay setting calculation, etc.
  • Layout engineering of substations; earth mat layout & equipment earthing details trench engineering.
  • Engineering BOQ preparation for bus bar materials, cables, clamps, connectors, insulators, & string hardware.
  • Review of primary equipments (Trafo, CB, Isolator, IT, WT etc.), secondary equipments (Control & Protection Panel Schematic, MV Switchgears, LT DBs, Battery, Battery Charger, JBs etc.) mechanical equipment (HVAC, Fire Detection & alarm, Firefighting equipments etc.) drawings.
  • Software skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, CDEG, and Microsoft Office.
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written English language is required.

Compensation and Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
