As a seasoned project manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of a comprehensive data privacy compliance program.

The program will ensure that all business units within the organization are aligned with the relevant data protection regulations, modeled closely on the European Union's GDPR framework.

This involves conducting a thorough assessment of current data privacy policies, systems, and processes to identify gaps against regulatory requirements.

You will work closely with various stakeholders, including legal, risk, IT security, compliance, and business units, to define and implement appropriate controls for data collection, storage, access, and sharing.

A key responsibility will be to oversee the development of data mapping and inventory to identify all personal data processed by the organization.

You will establish governance structures, reporting mechanisms, and escalation paths to ensure compliance tracking and accountability.

In addition, you will manage vendor relationships and third-party assessments related to data processing and privacy.

You will also design and facilitate training and awareness programs for staff on data protection principles and responsibilities.

Your role will involve preparing project plans, status reports, risk registers, and ensuring timely delivery within budget and scope.

You will serve as the primary liaison between internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies regarding data protection matters.

To be successful in this role, you will require proven experience managing regulatory or compliance-driven projects, preferably in the financial services sector.

An in-depth understanding of data privacy regulations, such as PIPA and GDPR, is essential.

Strong stakeholder management, communication, and documentation skills are also required.

You should be able to translate legal and regulatory requirements into actionable business processes.

Experience with change management and business process re-engineering is an advantage.
