Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer

Job Summary

As a seasoned software quality assurance professional, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions. This exciting opportunity requires expertise in software testing and quality assurance with a proven track record of success in similar roles.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a team to test a range of applications from high-stakes engineering software solutions to control and monitor high-end control systems.
• Develop and execute project plans and deliver commitments within a fast-paced engineering environment.
• Interface with internal and external customers to understand requirements, set priorities, and communicate direction and progress.
• Drive improvements in software quality practices and processes.
• Oversee and direct the development of new test frameworks and applications to ensure the implementation of manual and automated test solutions.
• Contribute to test process, tools, and methodologies, including both manual and automated test execution.
• Interpret requirements for testability and ensure coverage in test case design.
• Present test plans to leads and product owners for approval prior to execution.
• Collaborate with scrum teams to drive, implement, and maintain tests in an agile environment.
• Assess impact of design changes to determine optimal levels of testing.
• Develop methods and perform load and performance testing.
• Integrate testing with continuous-integration processes.
• Employ a troubleshooting mindset to identify failure mechanisms.
• Ensure proper analysis and documentation of test results.
• Participate in team retrospectives to recommend and implement improvements to test strategy and planning.
• Possess excellent time management and prioritization skills.
• Ensure all testing deliverables meet high-quality standards.
• Experience in bug management tools like JIRA is a plus.
• Perform in-depth regression testing when bugs are resolved.
• Participate in continuing education and training to remain current on best practices, learn new test and automation techniques, and support other team members.
• Contribute to all aspects of the SDLC (analysis, design, coding, testing, and implementation).

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience working directly within engineering teams developing software delivering full systems.
• 5+ years of proven work experience in software testing / quality assurance with web-based applications, mobile applications, and client-server applications.
• Familiarity with Agile Scrum methodology.
• Hands-on experience in manual API testing.
• Experience in automation testing using Selenium or similar frameworks.
• Solid knowledge of SQL and scripting.
• Excellent communication, written, verbal, and presentation skills, along with advanced problem-solving orientation and decision-making skills.
• Knowledge of Design Patterns & Data Structures.
• Working knowledge of various types of testing, from functional testing to performance and mobile/browser compatibility.
• A passion for technology with demonstrated ability to learn quickly.
• Understanding of the web/desktop application development cycle and programming techniques and tools.
• Excellent project and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently or with a group.
• Ability to participate in working sessions resulting in clear technical requirements and technical design while working with technical and non-technical members.
• Ability to write Java code for the purposes of testing solution code (e.g., white-box testing).

Desired Qualifications:

• Understanding in Energy & Utilities solutions.
• Unix and Shell scripting basics.
• Understanding of key UI design principles.
• Experience with standard set of Java development tools including IDEs, build frameworks, source code control, and other ALM tools.
• PMP Certified.
