Job Opportunity

The role of Assistant Vice President involves being an integral part of the Sustainability Research and Integration Team. As a key team member, you will produce insights on sustainability linked macro and company variables. This includes carbon intensity of energy, energy intensity of growth, and CO2 metrics for companies. Your contributions will also extend to research reports on developments in the wider economy, such as trade tariffs, and their linkages to key sustainability issues like emissions control, finance, and inclusive resilience.

This position requires collaboration with researchers from other asset classes and markets to leverage HSBC EM expertise. You will undertake detailed policy and country-specific research on Climate and ESG themes, contribute to thematic, corporate/government policy reviews, and country/sector specific reports, and understand and adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and regulatory guidance.

Key Skills and Qualifications

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role, along with hands-on experience in dealing with large data sets and analytical reasoning. Intermediate to advanced Excel skills are also required, as well as the ability to join dots across various thematics and form analytical linkages. A strong understanding of sustainability concepts and financial markets is necessary, alongside the ability to forward plan, collaborate to deliver research output, and operate under pressure while multitasking.

- Relevant qualifications include an Engineer or MBA/MSc degree in economics or a related field, with specialization in Environmental Economics. High-level proficiency in data collation, analysis, and analytics is expected.
