Job Description

We are seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all products meet the highest quality standards.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality assurance, with experience in auditing and implementing quality systems. They will also possess excellent communication and analytical skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Key Responsibilities:

  • Become an effective auditor by participating in external supplier audits; may lead low complexity and low risk audits after becoming a certified auditor.

  • Participate in the resolution of external supplier related quality challenges; support root cause analysis, supporting development of corrective actions and support the verification of the effectiveness of corrective actions; may lead resolution of low complexity and lower risk quality challenges after gaining experience.

  • Embrace continuous improvement in the external supply base by participating in and contributing to product and process focused projects that utilize industry proven methodologies, such as lean and six-sigma.

  • Participate in the quality performance planning and improvement process for a specific product type or specific segment of the external supply base; may lead the quality planning and improvement process for low complexity and low risk product types or segments of the supply base.

Required Skills and Qualifications

The following skills and qualifications are required for this role:

  • Education and Experience:

  • 8-10 years of hands-on experience in new part development across various commodities (e.g., casting, forging, fabrication, rubber , hardware , hoses , mechanical assembly).

  • 2 to 3 years of project management experience, specifically in engine/genset-related parts.

  • Proven experience in implementing SQE core tools at suppliers (Early Supplier Engagement, APQP, ZDM, PPAP, process capability , msa , control plan, fmea etc.).

  • Hands on experience on instruments such as vernier, micro meter , dial indicator, bore gauge, air gauges, thread plug gauges , hardness testing shore hardness , low pressure micrometer etc.

  • Hands on experience on cmm inspection report interpretation, datum logic definition, gdt calculations, system logic vs actual results, cmm measurement correlation study, contour measurement analysis,

  • Hands on experience on at least 10 PPAP completion with Level V /III

The successful candidate will be able to:

  • Face to face meeting with supplier design Engineer purchasing needs to be conducted frequently at IOC and supplier sites hence frequent traveling is mandatory
  • Candidate to be preferred working from Plant /IOC for collaborative working with purchasing SQE category team project manager
  • Six Sigma certification preferred
  • Hands-on experience with various metrology instruments and CQI-9 related processes
  • Proficiency in data analysis in excel, ppt etc mandatory.
  • Coordinate with supplier to provide quick solution to Cummins plant on quality issues.
  • Drive corrective and improvement actions at suppliers to achieve long term quality goals.
  • Support in part development for cost saving, wave, VPI, localization, resourcing.
  • Support in compliance activities related to suppliers.
