About the Role

The Manager, Model Validation is a dynamic and challenging position that involves ensuring high-quality model validation and compliance with related policies, standards, procedures, and regulations.

This role plays a pivotal part in ensuring models meet requirements by conducting thorough reviews, monitoring performance, and identifying potential issues. The incumbent will work closely with cross-functional teams to provide expert analysis and recommendations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Model Review and Compliance: Conduct full scope model review, annual review, ongoing monitoring model performance etc., for both internally and vendor-developed models.
  • Data Analysis: Evaluate model development data quality, methodology conceptual soundness and accuracy, and conduct model performance testing including back-testing, sensitivity analysis, benchmarking, etc.
  • Documentation and Communication: Perform proper documentation within expected timeframes for effectively highlighting findings for further review/investigation and facilitate informed discussions on key analytics.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelors/Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Statistics, Mathematics, or Data Science and 2+ years' experience in model development or model validation experience in the retail section of a U.S. Financial services or banking; in lieu of a Masters degree, 4+ years experience in model development/model validation experience in the retail section of financial services or banking.
  • Strong programming skills with 2+ years hands-on and proven experience utilizing Python, Spark, SAS, SQL, Data Lake to perform statistical analysis and manage complex or large amounts of data.
Work Timings and Flexibility
  • This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility and Choice offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time - 11:30 AM Eastern Time.
