Job Title: AVP Legal

The Legal Department is seeking a highly skilled and experienced AVP Legal to join its leadership team. This key member will work closely with the Group Chief Legal Officer (GCLO) to manage all aspects of legal affairs, providing strategic legal advice on various issues influencing business decision-making.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Legal Advice: Provide expert guidance on complex legal matters to inform business decisions, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Litigation Management: Collaborate with external counsel to develop effective litigation strategies, overseeing relationships and managing risk.
  • Operational Oversight: Ensure the legal aspects of company operations are aligned with business objectives, identifying areas for improvement and implementing process enhancements.
  • Business Support: Assist with business acquisition and project life cycle activities, providing legal support from due diligence to deal closure.
  • Funding Transactions: Lead funding transactions from a legal perspective, guiding external counsel as needed and negotiating contracts with third-party vendors.
  • Contract Negotiation: Craft and negotiate contracts with third-party vendors, suppliers, and consultants, ensuring favorable terms and conditions.
  • Indemnity Claims: Defend indemnity claims related to corporate funding and asset sales, working closely with the GCLO or management.
  • Strategic Litigations: Participate in competitive bids for business acquisitions, reviewing bid documents and analyzing risks, under the guidance of the GCLO or management.
  • Policies and Procedures: Develop policies, SOPs, and strategy documents to streamline processes and mitigate risk, improving overall efficiency and effectiveness.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • LL.B or LL.M degree in Law;
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in legal affairs, preferably in a senior role;
  • Strong knowledge of laws and regulations relevant to the industry;
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills;
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
