Procurement and Sourcing Manager Job Description

The Procurement and Sourcing Manager is responsible for leading the sourcing and supplier development team to achieve departmental and organizational objectives. This includes developing cost-effective strategies, identifying new suppliers, evaluating their capabilities, and managing procurement of imported and locally sourced parts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Lead the sourcing and supplier development team to achieve targets.
  • Evaluate and develop new suppliers for precision-machined components, evaluate their quality systems, and production capacity.
  • Conduct cost analysis, benchmarking, and identify opportunities for cost savings through alternate sourcing, process improvements, and vendor consolidation.
  • Source engineering components, engineering controls, and electrical drives for large-size machines.
  • Manage procurement of imported and locally sourced parts such as hydraulics, mechanical, electronics, and electrical.
  • Oversee supplier development, vendor negotiations, and warranty claims management with back-to-back warranty arrangements.
  • Ensure uninterrupted supply of materials and services at optimal cost, quality, and timelines for machine and mold production.
  • Provide expertise and advisory support for vendor development on new and existing projects.
  • Build strong buyer-seller relationships and review departmental SOPs regularly, identifying bottlenecks and suggesting process improvements to meet customer requirements consistently.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering.
  • 18-25 years of core supply chain management experience.
  • Minimum 10+ years heading complete Sourcing & Supplier Development function.
  • Strong background in tool room or machine-building industry.
  • Age: 42-45 years.
  • Preferred: Experience in capital equipment or project-based procurement, including Mother Machines selection, negotiation, and purchase.
