Special Educator Opportunity

Lady Andal House of Children is an esteemed special school dedicated to providing education and vocational training for individuals with diverse disabilities.

We are seeking a skilled Special Educator to work with learners with multiple disabilities and guide participants in the NIOS Program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and regularly review Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs, in collaboration with parents, therapists, and other school staff.
  • Deliver customised instruction to students based on their individual needs and learning styles.
  • Modify the standard curriculum to meet the abilities of students with disabilities.
  • Implement and monitor behaviour intervention plans and use positive behaviour supports.
  • Work closely with general education teachers, therapists, counsellors, and parents to support students' academic and social development.
  • Assess and track student performance and progress regularly, adjusting goals accordingly.
  • Maintain a supportive, safe, and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, assessments, and communications.
  • Participate in training and workshops to stay updated on special education practices, legal requirements, and instructional strategies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or P.G. Diploma or Master's degree in Special Education or equivalent in Multiple Disabilities.
  • 3 to 7 years working with children and adults with multiple disabilities
  • Patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in using educational technology and assistive aids and devices
  • Ability to work collaboratively with families and multidisciplinary teams
  • Good organisational and documentation skills
  • Proficient in English and Tamil
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and specialised instructional strategies.
