Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Microbiologist to lead the biological and analytical operations at our Compressed Biogas (CBG) facility.

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring stable digester performance, high methane yield, and compliance with process and product quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Sample Analysis: Conduct routine analysis of digester samples including pH, VOA/TIC, NH4-N, alkalinity, TKN, COD, DM/oDM, and VFA profiling.
  2. Gas Monitoring: Monitor gas composition (CH4, CO2, H2S, O2).
  3. Trend Interpretation: Interpret trends to provide early warnings of biological imbalances (acidification, foaming, inhibition).
  4. Quality Control: Test manure samples for compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  5. Laboratory Management: Manage and maintain laboratory instruments: pH meters, incubators, gas analyzers, balances, and titration setups.
  6. Documentation: Maintain accurate lab records and daily reports for management review.
  7. Collaboration: Guide O&M team on feeding strategies based on lab data (VOA/TIC, NH4-N, C/N balance).
  8. Troubleshooting: Support troubleshooting of digester upsets (low methane %, foaming, inhibition, ammonia stress).
  9. Process Optimization: Advise on nutrient dosing (urea, trace elements) and feedstock mix adjustments.
  10. Reporting: Ensure process data aligns with statutory bodies and internal quality standards.
  11. Audit Support: Support audits, certifications, and subsidy compliance (lab data submission).
  12. Protocol Development: Develop protocols for substrate activity tests (BMP assays, sugar-activity bottles).
  13. Feedstock Evaluation: Evaluate new feedstocks (press mud, cow dung, chicken litter, paddy straw, etc.) for methane potential.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Microbiology or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in microbiology research and development.
  • Strong understanding of microbial ecology and biotechnology.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
