Investment Analyst Job Description

This role is responsible for various activities related to deal analysis, loan portfolio purchases, and performance reviews.

  • Deal Analysis: Conduct thorough research and analysis of investment opportunities to provide informed recommendations.
  • Loan Portfolio Purchases: Manage the purchase and sale of loan portfolios, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Historical Performance Reviews: Analyze historical performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Price Modeling: Develop and maintain accurate pricing models for loan portfolios.
  • Credit Facilities: Manage credit facilities, including tracking expected vs. actual performance variances.
  • Forecast Modeling: Create forecasts of loan performance and cash flows.
  • Cumulative Collections Curves: Analyze cumulative collections curves to identify areas for improvement.
  • Runoff Models: Develop and maintain runoff models to forecast future loan performance.
  • Other Specialty Finance Opportunities: Identify and pursue other specialty finance opportunities that align with company goals.
  • Investment Memos and Research Summaries: Develop clear and concise reports summarizing investment opportunities and research findings.
  • Market Research: Stay up-to-date on market trends and developments to inform investment decisions.
  • Qualitative and Quantitative Aspects of the Deal: Provide a comprehensive summary of the qualitative and quantitative aspects of each investment opportunity.
  • Performance Analysis and Valuation Support: Assist in the analysis and valuation of loan portfolios.
  • Track Monthly Performance of Positions: Monitor the monthly performance of loan positions and identify areas for improvement.
  • Data Collection and Cleansing: Obtain and cleanse data from external sources to support investment decisions.
  • Expected vs. Actual Performance Variances: Identify and address any deviations from expected performance.
  • Valuation Model Updates: Collaborate with the finance operations team and valuation committee to update valuation models.
  • Loan Portfolio Management & Monitoring: Oversee the management and monitoring of loan portfolios to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Covenant Compliance and Review: Ensure that loan portfolios comply with covenants and regulatory requirements.
  • Counterparty Information Request: Gather necessary information from counterparties to support investment decisions.
  • Quarterly Data Audits: Conduct regular audits of data and calculations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Portfolio Tapes and Borrowing Base Certificates: Obtain and review portfolio tapes and BBCs to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Portfolio Tape Review and Data Standardization: Verify the accuracy and completeness of portfolio tapes, flagging any abnormalities or discrepancies.
  • Standardized Procedures and Documentation: Document and implement standardized procedures for managing loan portfolios and performing due diligence.
