Senior Data Architect Job Description

In this role, you will oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of data systems to ensure business intelligence and insights are delivered effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Select and integrate Big Data tools and frameworks as required to meet business capabilities
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines using ETL processes, monitoring performance and advising necessary infrastructure changes
  • Translate technical and functional requirements into detailed designs to meet business needs
  • Analyze alternative solutions for data storing and processing to implement streamlined approaches
  • Serve as a mentor to junior staff by conducting technical training sessions and reviewing project outputs

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of data warehousing and modeling techniques
  • Proficient in distributed computing principles, including Hadoop v2, MapReduce, and HDFS
  • Strong data engineering skills on GCP cloud platforms, such as Airflow, Cloud Composer, Data Fusion, Data Flow, Data Proc, and Big Query
  • Experience with building stream-processing systems using solutions like Storm or Spark-Streaming
  • Good knowledge of Big Data querying tools, including Pig, Hive, and Impala
  • Experience with Spark, SQL, and Linux
  • Knowledge of various ETL techniques and frameworks, such as Flume, Apache NiFi, or DBT
  • Experience with messaging systems, including Kafka or RabbitMQ
  • Understanding of Lambda Architecture and its advantages and drawbacks
