A civil engineer is responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and execution of construction projects. They work closely with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Civil engineers must have strong technical knowledge of construction methods and materials, as well as excellent communication and project management skills. They must be able to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications, and have a good understanding of building codes and regulations.
The role requires strong leadership and team coordination skills, as well as the ability to problem-solve and make decisions quickly. Civil engineers must also be willing to work at project sites across Tamil Nadu and be adaptable to changing project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise day-to-day site activities, ensuring work execution as per drawings, specifications, quality, and safety standards.
- Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and laborers to ensure smooth project execution.
- Monitor and manage resources such as manpower, materials, and machinery efficiently.
- Ensure timely completion of project milestones as per schedule.
- Maintain site records including daily progress reports, material usage, and work measurement.
- Assist in preparing bar bending schedules, measurement sheets, and work bills.
- Conduct quality checks for concrete, steel, shuttering, finishing works, etc.
- Ensure compliance with IS codes, company standards, and safety norms.
- Resolve site-related technical issues in coordination with project managers and consultants.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- 1 - 3 years of civil engineering experience related to site design, land development and land use permitting
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Strong organizational, analytical, communication skills and design skills
