Job Summary

MaxLinear is seeking a Senior Principal RF/MS IC Design Engineer to join our team of world-class IC designers. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for designing high-performance ICs with RF, analog, mixed-signal, and digital systems integrated on a single chip.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define architectures based on high-level specifications
  • Lead design, implementation, and verification of RF and mixed-signal subsystems on an SOC
  • Collaborate with system and product design teams to optimize circuits and system specification trade-offs
  • Work closely with various cross-functional teams to arrive at the best possible solution
  • Characterize and debug relevant blocks and systems
  • Define production test methodologies
  • Report the results of IC design, analysis, and evaluation

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of Analog/Mixed-signal circuits, with the ability to drive architecture and topology choices
  • Strong knowledge of circuit building blocks such as base-band amplifiers, VGAs, op-amp based filters, regulators, LNAs, Mixers, and VCOs
  • In-depth understanding of Mixed-signal circuit blocks such as ADCs, DACs, PLLs
  • In-depth understanding of Serdes systems
  • Ability to drive chip-level specifications for matching, signal path, spurious analysis, frequency planning
  • Familiarity with wireless or wireline communication specifications and derivation of block-level requirements from these high-level specifications
  • Solid understanding of CMOS process and device physics
  • Working knowledge of RF/analog layout techniques. Familiarity with FINFET layout is a plus
  • Understanding of semiconductor packaging and production testing
  • Hands-on experience testing your own designs in the lab and defining production test requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • BE/PhD/ME/MS in Electrical Engineering with at least 15 years of experience in RF/Analog/Mixed-signal design
