Key Responsibilities

At MaxLinear, we are seeking an experienced Senior Principal RF/MS IC Design Engineer to join our world-class team of IC designers. The selected candidate will be responsible for designing high-performance ICs with integrated RF, analog, mixed-signal, and digital systems.

Job Description

  • Develop architectures based on high-level specifications.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and verification of RF and mixed-signal subsystems on a System-on-Chip.
  • Collaborate with system and product design teams to optimize circuit and system specification trade-offs.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to achieve the best possible solution.
  • Characterize and debug relevant blocks and systems.
  • Define production test methodologies.
  • Report the results of IC design, analysis, and evaluation.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of Analog/Mixed-signal circuits and ability to drive architecture and topology choices.
  • Understanding of circuit building blocks such as base-band amplifiers, VGAs, op-amp based filters, regulators, LNAs, Mixers, and VCOs.
  • In-depth understanding of Mixed-signal circuit blocks such as ADCs, DACs, PLLs.
  • Understanding of Serdes systems.
  • Ability to drive chip-level specifications for matching, signal path, spurious analysis, and frequency planning.
  • Familiarity with wireless or wireline communication specifications and derivation of block-level requirements.
  • Solid understanding of CMOS process and device physics.
  • Working knowledge of RF/analog layout techniques and familiarity with FINFET layout.
  • Understanding of semiconductor packaging and production testing.
  • Hands-on experience testing designs in the lab and defining production test requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • BE/PhD/ME/MS in Electrical Engineering with at least 15 years of experience in RF/Analog/Mixed-signal design.
