Dam Break Analysis Specialist

Job Description:

The role involves performing detailed analysis of dam break scenarios to assess potential flood risks and develop effective emergency action plans. The specialist will be responsible for conducting thorough assessments, identifying potential hazards, and developing strategies to mitigate these risks.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Expertise in Hydrological and Hydraulic Modeling: A strong background in using advanced tools such as MIKE and HEC_HMS is essential for this role.
  • Experience in Flood Routing Studies: The candidate should have experience in performing integrated flood routing studies for cascades of reservoirs.
  • Knowledge of Dam Safety Inspections: Familiarity with conducting dam safety inspections and managing related documentation and communication is crucial.
  • Education and Certifications: A degree in Civil Engineering with postgraduate qualifications in Hydraulic or Hydrology, and a minimum of 15 years' experience in the field.

  • Subject Matter Expert: Act as the subject matter expert for all tasks related to Dam Break Analysis and Inundation Mapping.

  • Technical Support: Provide technical support for the development and finalization of Emergency Action Plans (EAPs).
  • Stakeholder Consultation: Facilitate and support stakeholder consultation meetings.
  • Plan Review: Review and finalize plans presented in Project Support Teams (PSTs).
  • Training Delivery: Design and deliver customized training courses on Dam Break Analysis, Inundation Mapping, and Emergency Action Planning.
  • Capacity Building: Conduct capacity building programs for DRIP Implementing Agencies (IAs).
