Structural Engineer Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Structural Engineer to join our team. As a key member, you will play a critical role in shaping the structural framework of commercial buildings.

  • You will lead seismic design for new and existing structures, ensuring they are safe and compliant with relevant codes and standards.
  • Perform comprehensive structural analysis and design for commercial buildings, taking into account various factors such as wind loads, earthquake resistance, and material specifications.
  • Develop 2D/3D models and drawings using Revit and CAD software to ensure seamless integration with architectural and engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct thorough value engineering on existing and proposed designs to improve constructability, reduce cost and programme risk, and maintain performance standards.
  2. Collaborate closely with hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical services teams to resolve interfaces, penetrations, loads, and maintenance/access requirements.
  3. Prepare detailed design reports, specifications, calculation packages, BOMs, and RFI responses; and support tender queries as needed.
  4. Participate in internal design reviews, verification/validation, and quality assurance processes to ensure consistency and excellence.
  5. Liaise with clients, architects, builders, and fabricators to represent the company's interests and provide technical guidance.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • 5+ years' structural engineering experience in the Australian commercial sector preferred.
  • Demonstrated seismic analysis and design expertise.
  • Proven experience integrating structural designs with hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical services.
  • Hands-on use of Revit and 2D/3D drafting/BIM systems for structural documentation.

Technical Competencies

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of Australian codes/standards (e.g., NCC; AS/NZS 1170 incl. earthquake; AS 4100, AS 3600, AS/NZS 4600, etc.). Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
