Backend Engineering Manager Position

This role involves building a high-performance technology stack for urban logistics, with responsibilities including ownership of core systems development, infrastructure management, and AI/ML integration.

  • Designing and implementing scalable backend systems from scratch (backend, APIs, orchestration engines, infra).
  • Making architecture decisions that will define the direction of the platform.
  • Spearheading the transition from pilot to scale (500 riders → 50,000 riders).
  • Working across the stack: backend (Go, Python, Node), infra (AWS, Terraform, Redis, OSRM), and app integrations (React Native, APIs).

Strong grasp of distributed systems, microservices, and API design is required, as well as experience with AWS stack, DevOps, and geospatial systems. Key responsibilities include owning and building services like Orchestrator, droneAI APIs, and rider ops tooling, deploying and managing AWS infra, productionizing demand prediction, rider assignment, and fleet balancing models, and translating architecture into production code.

Requirements

We are looking for someone with 5–8 years of experience building and shipping backend systems, preferably with Go and Python. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with DevOps, have a strong entrepreneurial mindset, and be excited about ownership, ambiguity, and speed over perfection.

  • Experience with distributed systems, microservices, and API design.
  • Familiarity with AWS stack, DevOps, and geospatial systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to changing requirements.
