Network Security Specialist

The web application security team is responsible for deploying and maintaining internet-facing web application security controls. This includes a range of solutions such as home-grown software, 3rd party software, open-source products, appliances, and auxiliary services.

Key to the success of this role will be excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, allowing you to work effectively with global tech functions and service owners to onboard internet-facing web applications to the Web Application Firewall (WAF).

You will be responsible for reviewing logs, implementing tuning, web blocking, etc. for onboarded applications, as well as mapping IP addresses, FQDNs, to services and applications. Strong collaboration skills across multiple teams will also be required, along with an understanding of ITIL processes.

A successful candidate in this role will help ensure that perimeter security for web properties keeps pace with the changing threat landscape firmwide. Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing and analyzing web behavior and performance to establish acceptable application thresholds
  • Performing policy tuning in accordance with performance baseline
  • Transitioning WAF from transparent to enforcement mode
  • Data cleansing and validation
  • Participating in proof-of-concepts for new security capabilities
  • Incident and problem management: conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA), responding to incidents, and participating in postmortem analysis

Experience with Akamai or equivalent platform(s) such as Radware, Imperva, Shape Security, CloudFlare, etc. is highly desirable, as well as experience with onboarding web services into WAF platforms and the lifecycle of monitor to mitigation modes.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, detail-oriented, and well-organized
  • Ability to cultivate strong relationships with application owners, demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
  • Web network security, with a focus on web application firewalls/controls, and their role in layered defense in depth
  • Experience with vulnerability scanning and remediation
