**Java Backend Engineer Position**

About the Role

  • The successful candidate will be a core member of an agile team responsible for driving user story analysis and elaboration, designing and developing responsive web applications using best engineering practices.
  • Key responsibilities include performing hands-on software development, writing code, unit tests, conducting proof of concepts, code reviews, and testing in ongoing sprints.
  • Responsibilities also include ongoing refactoring of code, delivering continuous improvement, and managing one's own time.
  • Collaborative teamwork with product managers, backend engineers, and other frontend engineers is essential to implement versatile solutions to complex web development problems.
  • This role requires working closely with Product Owners to define requirements for new features and plan increments of work.
  • Automating tasks and ensuring automated test scripts are completed for new features in partnership with QA Engineers is crucial.
  • Additional responsibilities involve designing and building integration components and interfaces in collaboration with Senior Engineers, Architects, and Infrastructure Engineers as necessary.

Requirements

  • Experience working in Java and demonstration of good Java knowledge.
  • Understanding of web fundamentals and HTTP protocol knowledge.
  • Good attitude, communication skills, willingness to learn, and collaborate.
  • At least 5 years of experience developing Java applications in an enterprise setting.
  • Experience working with Java 11 and above is a plus.
  • Familiarity with frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, Dropwizard is a bonus.
  • Recent experience working in JavaScript on Node stack is a plus.
  • Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD), Behavior Driven Development (BDD) practices, unit testing, functional testing, system integration testing, regression testing, GUI testing, web service testing, and browser compatibility testing including frameworks such as Selenium, WebDriverIO, Cucumber, JUnit, Mockito.
  • Knowledge of continuous integration and continuous delivery environment.
  • 3-4 years of experience working in an Agile or SAFe development environment.
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems.
  • Proven experience building scalable web applications using Java.
